Sue Katherine Pace

Sue Katherine Barlow passed away in Sandy, Utah, on July 29, 2026, at 1:35 pm. She was born on Dec 7, 1935, to George Archibald Barlow and Laura Belle Adams in Chelsea, Washtenaw, Michigan. She had two older brothers, Bragdon and Robert and She also has a younger brother Thomas and her baby sister Ruthan. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since and has served in various callings.

In Chelsea High School Sue was a Varsity Cheerleader as a freshman. She moved to Ann Arbor in 1950, and her family attended church at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ. She began her sophomore year at a new school, Ann Arbor High. On the school bus the first day, she met the love of her life, Robert W. Pace. They married in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 17,1953 one week after she graduated from High School. They were sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple on Oct 15,1958.

Sue had nine children between 1954 -1984. Robert Michael, Jamie Lynn, Thomas Matthew, Brett Anthony, Joanna Lee, Samuel Wesley, Susan Laurie, Sallie Ann, Timothy Christian.

Sue dedicated 40 years of her life raising 9 children. Four daughters and 5 sons. She and Bob also fostered 5 Native American children during the school years in California and in Utah. 4 boys and a girl, who were close to the ages of their own children.

When her youngest child was in kindergarten, she worked as a substitute teacher, a secretary, a receptionist, and as a real estate agent. Sue was adventurous and devoted to her marriage and family. In 1972 they all moved to Alpine, Utah and enjoyed their one-acre farm.

In 1998, Bob & Sue moved back to Michigan where they both grew up and met, to live near Bob’s mom Virginia (Pace)Spies and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In 2009, they moved to Utah and settled in Salt Lake City in the Holiday area.

Sue loved to cook, sew, and organize. She loved to read and learn. She was artistic and could sketch and watercolor. She had a passion for family history. She loved to visit with her family on the phone, in person, and wrote letters to friends. Sue loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, neighbors, and animals, especially her cats, Rowdy and Sunny.

Sue is survived by one brother, Thomas (Mary Jo) and her only sister, Ruthan Edwards and 9 children. She and Bob have 48 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and several Foster Native American Families.

Sue will be buried in the Alpine Utah Cemetery, near two grandsons - Philip Charles Johnson and Kaleo Wynn Hewlett.
