Sylva "Sylvia" Bodily Godwin, age 95, passed away October 2, 2008, on her birthday. She was born October 2, 1913, in Vernal, Utah, the daughter of Christopher William Bodily and Anna Marie Anderson Bodily. Her childhood was spent working with her family on their farm in Gusher, Utah.

She married Clarence Andrew Godwin on October 6, 1933, in Randolph, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 28, 1970. Sylva assisted her husband with operating his contracting business for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and doing a variety of crafts and handwork.

Together Sylva and Clarence enjoyed travelling in their motorhome. They went twice to Mexico and Central America. She especially enjoyed visiting the ruins there. They also travelled to Canada and Alaska, as well as many places in the U.S.

When they retired in 1981, they moved to St. George and enjoyed the milder weather for many years.

Sylva is survived by one son, Ronald L. (Myrna); one daughter, June (Mick) McAfee; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and one half-sister, Afton Ann Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband and 6 half-brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
