Telesila T Castro

Telesila T. Castro, age 108, of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024. Born on August 9, 1915, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Telesila was the beloved daughter of Victor Manuel Triviño and Dionisia Mercedes Castro. She was the second of eight children, cherished by her seven siblings. 

On May 17, 1944, Telesila married Ernesto Castro, and together they embarked on a journey that led them to build a beautiful family and life together. In 1996, she moved to the United States, where she continued to bestow her family with affection and resilience. As the family matriarch, Telesila's courage and perseverance were the bedrock upon which her family thrived. Her unwavering support and guidance shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a lasting legacy of love and unity. 

Telesila's strong determination was a defining characteristic throughout her life. She faced every challenge with grace and tenacity, setting an example for her family and community. Her helping nature extended far beyond her immediate family; she was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, offering support and comfort in times of difficulty. A natural caregiver, Telesila dedicated her life to the well-being of her loved ones. Her nurturing spirit was evident in the way she cared for her family, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her innate gift for care and compassion will be cherished by all who knew her. 

Telesila is survived by her four loving daughters: Sergia Victoria (Danny) Randall, Thalia Castro (Bolivar Condo), Elsa Castro (Victor Hi-Fong), and Mercy (Carlos) Viteri. She was a proud abuelita to 13 grandchildren: Silvia, Patricia & Diana Castro, Thalia, Elizabeth & Lissette Condo, Elsa, Maria, Victor & Roberto Hi-Fong, Andrea, Michelle & Stephanie Viteri along with 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.  A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to services from 12:00 to 1:45 PM.  

Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
