Thomas Carl Niedringhaus, known affectionately as Tom, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, in Taylorsville, Utah. Born on December 2, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, Tom led a life filled with passion, commitment, and love for his family and community.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his character and instilled a deep sense of duty and honor. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his family and embraced every moment with warmth and kindness.
He was a man of many interests, with hobbies that included collecting car models and cheering for his favorite teams, the LA Rams and the University of Utah Utes. His enthusiasm for NASCAR racing was contagious, and he was known to engage in lively discussions about his favorite TV programs, often sharing them with those he loved.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cheri J. Niedringhaus, who stood by him through thick and thin. He leaves behind his children, Eric Niedringhaus and Kevin Niedringhaus, as well as his stepson, Shane Llewellyn. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Trina (Gary) Mattingly, and his numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Tom also leaves behind a close-knit family, including his brothers-in-law Kevin Poulsen and Bob Brown, along with sisters-in-law Cindy Poulsen, Sara Poulsen, and Robyn Brown, all of whom cherished their time with him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma L. Rose, and father, Carl A. Niedringhaus, who instilled in him the values that guided him throughout his life.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later time, allowing friends and family to come together to honor the legacy he left behind. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
