Dick Scott, 94 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away on May 25, 2026 in Sandy, Utah. He was born on August 1, 1932 in Gordon, Nebraska the fourth of six children born to Leonard and Lucille (Margrave) Scott.
He graduated from Twin Falls, Idaho High school in 1951 and served on active duty in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952 until his honorable discharge in January 26, 1956. Dick Married Jayne Laree Plessinger, his lifetime sweetheart and the love of his life on June 2, 1957 in the Methodist Church in Twin Falls, Idaho. Dick and Jayne were later baptized members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 10, 2000 and their marriage was solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on January 20, 2001 where they were sealed for time and eternity.
Dick and Jayne spent their working lifetime in the super market refrigeration and air conditioning business, being self-employed for over 30 years. They spent many happy years running RV Caravans and traveling for Albertsons. His greatest joy was working hard and helping other people. Dick is survived by his son, Rick Scott (Sue), daughters Lisa Baum (Bill) and Jennifer Scott. Seven grandsons, one granddaughter and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jayne, his parents, Leonard & Lucille Scott, two sisters, Peggy Varner and Betty Hyder, his two brothers, Clark Scott and Jack Scott.
There will be a memorial service held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the professional caregivers at Legacy Retirement Residence in South Jordan and also those at Beehive Homes in Sandy for their kindness, support and loving care shown to Dick. With special thanks to Auburn Crest Home Health & Hospice, specifically our wonderful hospice care nurse, Jacque Parker who went above and beyond in lovingly looking after both mom and dad.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Perpetual Education fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
