Todd Lance Dorius passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2013 while on vacation with his family at Bear Lake. Todd was born November 22, 1961 to Carl Byron and Joyce Guiver Dorius in Salt Lake City, Utah. Raised in Chicago and Salt Lake City, he graduated from Skyline High School in 1980 and went on to study at the University of Utah, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. On March 19, 1981 he married his best friend and true love, Sandra Hill in the Salt Lake Temple and with her raised 5 beautiful children.
Todd was an intelligent, creative and passionate man with a vast array of hobbies and interests. An engineer by trade, his true passion was his artwork. He was always painting, drawing, sculpting or photographing any subject that would sit still. He loved being outdoors, especially on the water with his kayaks or sail boat. He loved motorcycles and taught all of his children at a very young age, the importance of helmets and holding on tight. Todd had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time, as was often evident by his boisterous laugh. Todd worked hard to instill a passion for life into each of his children, always involving them in these activities. Of all of Todd’s passions, his most important one was his wife who he loved with all of his heart and who he made the most important part of his life.
Todd is survived by his wife, Sandra, daughter Kirsten, sons C.J., Geoffrey, Austin, and Samuel, siblings Guy (Vicki) and Leslie, many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Joyce, brother Jay and daughter Elizabeth.
To quote one of Todd’s favorite musicians, “Only the good die young.”
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday August 8, 2013 at the Olympus 2nd Ward, 3070 East Nila Way (4085 South). Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm or one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dorius Family Fund at Wells Fargo to assist with funeral expenses. Funeral Directors: Deseret Mortuary
