Truus Van Vossen

On March 2, 2026, Geertruida Hout Van Vossen passed away. Surely, she was greeted with tears of joy by the many loved ones that passed before, including our beloved dad, Adrian Van Vossen, who passed away on August 3rd, 2015.

Truus was born on September 16, 1932, to Geertje and Dirk Hout in Stavinisse, The Netherlands. She was the youngest of 10 children and remarkably close to her siblings and her parents. The stories of growing up in the German Occupation during World War II and losing her parents at 19 to the devastating 1953 flood, will live on through her children and grandchildren.

She married dad on November 29th, 1951, in the Netherlands. Shortly after the loss of her parents, she and dad immigrated to the United States where they lived surrounded by loving family and friends. Throughout their lives together she and dad were fortunate to have made many trips to Holland to reunite with family.

She is survived by her daughter Elly Savage (Jack), her son Dirk Van Vossen (Marilyn), her daughter Trudy Warner (Alan, deceased), 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mom will be deeply missed and remembered for her generous heart, her immeasurable capacity to love, and courageous resilience. Her stories of a well-lived life remain in all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
