Tyson Scott Babb was born April 15, 1983, and passed away on January 13, 2026. He was a brother, father, stepfather, son, cousin, uncle, and loyal friend.

Tyson was known for his big heart, deep loyalty, and the most infectious smile and laugh that could light up any room.

Family meant everything to him, whether by blood or by bond, and he formed lasting connections throughout his life. As a father, stepfather, and uncle, he took pride in the children in his life and loved them fiercely.

Tyson battled addiction for much of his life with courage and determination. On October 21, 2017, he made the decision to become sober and remained clean for several years. At the time of his passing, Tyson was approaching ten years of sobriety, a milestone that reflected his strength, resilience, and desire to live a better life. Following multiple surgeries, he was prescribed OxyContin, which led him back into a struggle he had fought hard to overcome. His years of sobriety remain a testament to his perseverance.

Tyson’s life was tragically taken in a senseless act of violence. No circumstance ever justifies the loss of a human life.

He is survived by his child, Tyson Babb; Jordyn Sorensen; his mother, Jody Killian; his stepfather, Doug Killian; his father, Terrence O’Connor; his brother, Morgan Killian; his niece, Lexi Killian; and his best friends, not bound by blood but by loyalty, Danielle LeBlanc and Ryan Roestenburg.

Tyson’s son, Tyson Babb, would like everyone to know:

“My dad didn’t always do the best or make the best decisions, but he tried—and he did good for so long. He was like my older twin in a father. I loved my dad even when he was doing stupid shit, and I hope he realized and never forgot that. Fights or arguments aside, he was a good dad. I wish he was still here and always will. Like he used to tell me, ‘Shit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up faster.’ Always and forever, I’ll miss my dad.”

In honor of Tyson’s life, his family hopes his story serves as a reminder that recovery is possible. Anyone struggling with addiction can attend a meeting today and change their life. It only takes one decision, and support is available for every circumstance.

The family is deeply appreciative of every family member and friend who walked alongside Tyson on his earthly journey, through both the good and the hard times. He truly loved so many people in his life.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary; 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 with a viewing from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to services. Following Tyson's wishes he will be cremated following his services.
