Velma May Thompson

May 2, 1933 — June 29, 2025

Velma May Thompson, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a longtime member of her church community.

Velma was born and raised in Utah and spent her life caring deeply for those around her. As a homemaker, she found purpose and joy in raising her family and creating a loving home. She was married to Neil Thompson Sr. for more than 60 years, building a life rooted in commitment and shared values.

Velma enjoyed the simple things in life. She was an avid bowler, loved camping, and rarely missed a game night with family and friends. Her home was always open, and her grandkids brought her the greatest happiness. She showed her love in everyday ways—with her time, laughter, and steady presence.

She was preceded in death by her husband Neil, her parents, her siblings, and two of her children. She never stopped carrying their memory with her.

Velma is survived by her sister, Joyce Robinson; her sons Paul Thompson and Randy Thompson (Kristy); and her grandchildren Darren Baum, Rusty Baum (Abel), Tiffany Hansen (Cody), and Tyler Thompson (Brooke). Her family will remember her for her quiet strength, kindness, and deep love.

Her family will honor her memory with a viewing and graveside service on July 11, 2025, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. The viewing will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by the graveside service at 12:00 PM
