Venus May Anderson passed away September 8, 2012 at age 92 in Bountiful Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born to Oliver Cromwell and Loretta Grace May on October 17 1919 in Lovell, Wyoming. She was the second of ten children. Preceded in death by siblings: Porter May, Virga May, Andrew May, and Jerry May. Survived by siblings: Phern Wardell, Phyllis Partridge, Rose Marie Brinkerhoff, Jay May, and Priscilla Caturia; and her sweet sister-in-law and friend Donna Harston Michaelson; and many loving nieces and nephews. She completed high school in Kane, Wyoming and also attended the University of Wyoming, where she received a teaching certificate. She taught elementary school, grades 3-5, for two years until she married Dee Anderson on March 8, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Dee passed away March 23, 2007. They had 7 children, 28 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Venus was preceded in death by her son James and survived by her daughters Diane Gilbert (Alex), Marsha Hunter (Calvin), Pamela Doi (Robin), Cynthia Murakami (Wayne) and Jerilyn Hanks (Paul), son William (Karla) and daughter-in-law Elaine. Our Mother was good and kind and strong. She was always a happy woman, even through the difficult times of her life. She was the most beautiful woman in the world. She said that her greatest accomplishment was her posterity. She was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where her callings were always working with children. She was a Primary Teacher, Junior Sunday School Coordinator, and Stake Primary Presidency Councilor. She worked at Litton Industries in Salt Lake City as a Lead Production Technician until she retired in 1978. She crocheted prolifically. All of her children, all of her grandchildren, and most of the great-grandchildren have been blessed with their own heirlooms of her handiwork. She loved gardening and her yard always stood out in her neighborhood. She truly loved anything that was beautiful, virtuous, and praiseworthy, and she loved us most of all. We thank the kind and loving workers at North Canyon Care Center, Bountiful UT and the VistaCare Hospice for making her last years as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We love her so much and our lives were blessed to be able to assist with her care. We love and will miss you "Granny Great", until we meet again. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 14, 2012, 11:00am at the North Point LDS Ward building, 1460 North Morton (1850 West). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and also on Friday morning from 9:30am to 10:40am prior to services.
