Vern Warren Terry, age 97, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Salt Lake City. Vern’s life was marked by deep devotion to family, faith, and friendships.
Vern was the Cherished husband of the late Betty Lou Terry, and loving father to three daughters: Joy Garcia, Susan Walkingshaw (late husband Gordon), both of whom survive him, and the late Kay VanWyngaarden and Husband Arie. Vern’s love for his family was unwavering. One of his great joys in life was creating memories with them, whether at home or on adventures. He was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and being a campground host in Oregon. He worked as a milkman for Winder Dairy, and after retiring from the dairy, he became a school bus driver for special needs children. He formed many lifelong friendships that meant the world to him. He loved a beautiful drive through the mountains with a special stop for a good meal or treat. He had a strong belief in the plan of salvation, which gave him a sense of peace in his passing. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by his Father Warren I. Terry, his Mother Rebecca C. Terry, his Brother’s Allen, Don, Gene (and spouses), and his Sister’s Thelda, Millie (and spouses), and great-grandson, Corbin Jespersen.
Survived by 10 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, and 2 Step Great Great Grandchildren.
