Verna Deann Caldwell Jensen

February 14, 1959 — May 25, 2025

Verna Deann (Caldwell) Jensen, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in her home on May 25, 2025. Deann was born on February 14th, 1959, in Taylorsville, Utah, to Don Dee and Verna Mae Caldwell.

Deann was raised in Taylorsville and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1977. Deann met her husband, Carl Larry Jensen, through friends. Carl and Deann were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on July 16th, 1980.

Family was the most important thing in Deann’s life. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, especially at holidays. Whether it was fondue at New Year’s Eve, presents at Christmas, fireworks on Independence Day, or egg hunts on Easter, holidays were a chance for Deann to make and share a good meal and spend the day with her family; she devoted her life to serving her family and those around her. She also enjoyed crocheting and baking cinnamon rolls and sharing those creations with others. She loved music and singing in choirs.

Deann was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, such as Relief Society president, young women's president, compassionate service coordinator, and counselor in the primary presidency. She also served in the Jordan River Temple as a temple worker in the baptistry and also served as a coordinator for the Deseret Peak Utah Temple open house.

Deann worked as a bookkeeper at Bennion Junior High School in Granite School District for 20 years. She also served on the PTA and as PTA president.

Deann was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Verna, her brother, Raymond Caldwell, and her sister-in-law, Kathie Caldwell.

Deann is survived by her husband, Carl Jensen, her children: Jane (Erick) Roberts, Emily (Jaron) Hyer, Ned (Rachel) Jensen, Sara (Branden) Ushio, Erika (Paul) Walker, as well as her siblings: Steven (Joelyn) Caldwell, Susan (Steven) Berg, Bryce (Danna) Caldwell, and her twin brother, Don (Theresa) Caldwell. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Afton, Kaydee, Parker, Kyle, Jensen, Xander, McKade, Lukas, Boston, Violet, Caroline, Kamberlie, Amelia, and Conner.
