Family was the most important thing in Deann’s life. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, especially at holidays. Whether it was fondue at New Year’s Eve, presents at Christmas, fireworks on Independence Day, or egg hunts on Easter, holidays were a chance for Deann to make and share a good meal and spend the day with her family; she devoted her life to serving her family and those around her. Deann was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, such as Relief Society president, young women's president, compassionate service coordinator, and counselor in the primary presidency. She also served in the Jordan River Temple as a temple worker in the baptistry and also served as a coordinator for the Deseret Peak Utah Temple open house.
