Verna Vee Maxfield Larson

November 19, 1928 — November 30, 2023

Sandy

Verna Vee Maxfield Larson, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 30, 2023, in Sandy, Utah. She was born on November 19, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carlos Dewey Maxfield and La Vera Larsen.

Verna married Kenneth Dale Larson on June 2, 1953.  They were sealed together and to their children Lani Dale and Ronald Kent on June 6, 1975 in the Provo Utah Temple.  Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Among her many passions was giving service through her temple work.  Verna dedicated herself to this sacred task and found solace and peace in the walls of the temple.  She had a passion for genealogy and spent countless hours tracing her family’s roots.  Her dedication to this work brought her great fulfillment as she discovered the relationships and stories of those who came before.

Ken and Verna embarked on a mission to the Ireland Dublin Mission.  They served from November 1985 until May 1987.  They also served a mission at the Salt Lake Temple Square Bishop’s Storehouse.  These missions enriched their lives as they offered love and support to those they served.  They loved the people of Ireland and worked together to bring people closer to Christ.

Verna served continually in Relief Society, Primary, and the Young Women organizations. She particularly liked working with the Guide Patrol and Cub Scouts in Primary teaching them valuable skills and life lessons.  Her dedication to guiding young minds blessed the lives of each child fortunate enough to be under her care.

Another great passion of Verna’s was gardening.  She loved preparing the soil, planting the vegetables, and harvesting and preserving what she raised.  She found joy in sharing the bounteous harvest with those around her.

Ken and Verna met while dancing and continued dancing together and teaching others to dance.  This brought them joy throughout their lives.

Verna is survived by her brother Dahl J. Maxfield and her children Lani Dale (Dave) Lunt and Ronald Kent (Lenna) Larson.  She is survived by ten grandchildren: Cecily Lunt, Tiffany Lunt, David Lunt, Jr (Maria), Tanya (Al) Alabsawi, Devin Lunt, Lucas (Catolyn) Lunt, Nicole (Darren) Mattice, Bridger (Stacy) Larson, Kiersten Larson, Kendall (William) Ortiz and nine great grandchildren.

Verna is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Dale Larson, parents Carlos Dewey Maxfield and La Vera Larsen Maxfield, and brothers Don Dewey and his wife Carol, Chan L. and his wife Naomi, and sister-in-law Jacqueline Maxfield.
