Vicki Rae Newbold Rich, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Layton, Utah, on March 9, 2026.
Vicki was born on February 17, 1948, in Murray, Utah, to LaMar and Marvella Sharp Newbold. She was raised in Midvale, Utah.
On October 25, 1973, she married Grant Neil Rich, in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1976 they built a home in Layton, Utah, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Vicki developed a passion for sewing early in her life and perfected her skills while working at Beehive Clothing. Over her lifetime she became a gifted seamstress and quilter, creating many treasured pieces for family and friends. Later in life she served as the librarian at King Elementary School, where she worked for more than 15 years before retiring.
Vicki took great pride in caring for her home. She worked to maintain an immaculately landscaped yard filled with flower beds and a plentiful garden. Above all, she embodied the spirit of motherhood, filling her home with home-cooked meals, carefully sewn clothes, and constant care and devotion for her family.
Spending time with her family meant everything to Vicki. She especially cherished her role as a grandmother and made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s activities and events.
She is survived by her three sons: Dirk (Trina), Colby (Amanda), and Marty (Meghan) Rich; seven grandchildren: Skyler, Wesley (Alyssa), Emmalee, Matthew, Ethan, Bradley, and Carter Rich; and her sister, Dixie Bess.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grant Neil Rich, and her parents, LaMar and Marvella Newbold.
