She grew up in Hoytsville and graduated from North Summit High School. A Lifelong learner, she attended both Brigham Young University and Utah State University. It was at Utah State that she met the love of her life, Neal La Farge Dastrup, on a blind date--fittingly--on Valentines Day. They were married on Friday June 13, 1957, and together built a life filled with devotion, laughter and family.
She was a proud mother of six children, Alan (Teresa) Dastrup, Sheralyn Dastrup, Marla (Stewart) Gray, Roger Dastrup, Robert Hole, Gary (Bobbie) Dastrup.
Her legacy continues through her 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one precious great-great-granddaughter.
She was a schoolteacher in Altamont Utah, and she was a page for the Utah State Legislature.
She had lifelong church service and callings.
She had a deep love for the simple joys of life: gardening, feeding the neighborhood's birds and stray cats (each one with a name), and making her grandchildren laugh with the sweet songs she made up during mealtimes, like "Soupy doupy doupy doup" and "eat it all up". Her home was a place of warmth, where everyone felt seen, fed and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two foster brothers.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
She will always be loved and missed.
