Virginia Murdoch Facer, 92, passed away peacefully at home October 31, 2009 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born May 12, 1917 in Salt Lake City to William Wallace and Myrtle Hardwick Cartwright Murdoch.
She was only 5 feet tall but every inch was filled with love. Love for her eternal sweetheart, Keith Holbrook Facer, whom she married in the Salt Lake Temple, June 24, 1942. He passed away April 27, 2005 after nearly 63 years of marriage.
Love for her children, Jeanne (Allen) Hughes, Sue (Lee) Parkin, David Facer (Annett) and son-in-law Lynn (Cindy) Peterson. Her daughter, Laraine Facer Peterson preceded her in death September 10, 2004. She dearly loved her 11 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Her smile widened and her eyes twinkled whenever she saw them!
Love for her surviving brother, Bob (Dolores) Murdoch and sisters-in-law, Eileen Murdoch, Martha (Royce) Flandro, Edele Facer and brothers-in-law Sherm (Genevieve) Gowans and Reed Facer. She was preceded in death by her brother Wallace Murdoch and sisters Lucile Russell and Grace Gowans.
"Love one another as I have loved you" is a commandment that came naturally to her. Lifelong friends were made through her many church callings. She especially enjoyed serving a mission with Keith in the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors Center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Family and friends were the recipients of her many talents... something from the kitchen, a quilt, a scrapbook or her listening ear. She was loved by everyone who knew her.
She will be honored for her devotion to her family, friends and her Savior at funeral services to be held Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 12 noon at the Valley View 3rd Ward, 4101 South 1925 East. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive. Please send condolences to the family at: www.holbrookmortuary.com. A special thanks to both Arbor Senior Care and Inspiration Hospice for their loving care.
