Mary Virginia Heugly Place, 93, passed quietly from this life on Thursday, Sept. 10th in the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, with her son and daughter by her side.
Born April 1, 1916 in Salt Lake City to Lorenzo Charles and Mary Ann Pugh Heugly, Virginia married Arthur Shell Place on August 20, 1940 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her three brothers Archie, Durwood and Shirly; and her two sisters Madeline (Gundersen) and Twila Dawn (Galbraith).
Virginia was a 5'2", eyes of blue, 105 lb. bundle of pure energy. She was known for her hard work as a private secretary/office manager, her meticulously clean home, her artistic flare, her quick wit, and her ability to out run anyone while wearing her trademark high heels. Her children will always remember the Heugly family Christmas parties, where the family traveled from house to house, each one outdoing the other in decoration and food presentation. The Heuglys loved to entertain and found reasons to get together often.
Virginia is survived by her two children, Jerry Michael (Kathy) and Star Place; seven grandchildren she adored; 18 (almost 19) great-grandchildren; and the many nephews and nieces she loved so dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, who lovingly cared for Virginia the last 2 A
