Von Cyril Jones

August 8, 1934 — January 20, 2024

Von Cyril Jones, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024, in his home in St. George, Utah, of natural causes related to a long battle with dementia/Alzheimer's disease. His loving, caring wife and 2 daughters stayed by his side until the end. He was born on August 8, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cyril Parkinson Jones and Myrle Edwards Jones. Von and Betty Jean Jones met and after a long dating courtship of 3.5 years, were married and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 6, 1964. 


Von was raised on a small farm in Sterling, Utah. He attended and commuted from Sterling, Utah to Ogden, Utah 3 times a year in order to attend the Utah School for the Deaf (USDB) and graduated with honors in 1955. Von was an avid outdoorsman; He loved river fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with his beloved family. He was always very proud of his home, landscape and beautiful garden. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and accepted many callings in the church. He was a faithful, trustworthy, loyal servant of God. 


Von retired working as a lithographer for Sun Lithograph Company after over 48 years of service. He was a stellar Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great grandfather. He loved his family second to God. Betty and Von moved to St. George, Utah in 2002 His friends and family, all who knew him, will all miss the sound of his jolly, loud laughter and his tight hugs.


Von is survived by his wife, Betty Jean, Kimberlee Holloway (daughter), Mae (Milt) Farrand (sis), Nadine Miller (Jones) (daughter-in-law), (grandchildren) Damion Medina, Brittani Medina, Tiree Burton, Kaliyah Burton, Trisha Jones, Tyler Jones, Theresa Marie Dalmau, Christina Ann Crichigno, and (great-grandchildren)  Jaelynn Medina, Jaysun Medina, Carl Von Meiser, Elias Kingston Burton, Liliana Dalmau, Salvatore Teta, Nicolo Teta, and many nieces , nephews, cousins, and many friends.


He is preceded in death by Cyril P. Jones (father), Myrle Edwards Jones (mother), Tyran Von Jones (son), Rollin Solon Jones (brother), and Tory Von Jones (grandson). 


We’d like to thank the staff, especially RN Carly, from the Intermountain Home Care & Hospice, for caring for Von in his final year on this earth. We are overwhelmed by your care and attention given to the man whom we love & adored.


Funeral services will be held on Sat. (Feb) 3, 2024 at Bennion 4th & 5th Ward 6100 Kamas Dr 2600 West, Taylorsville, UT 84129 at 11:30 AM. A viewing will be held prior from 10 - 11:15 AM. There will be a quick luncheon, following the funeral service. 


Interment will be at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd, South Ogden, UT 84403.
