Wally Lloyd has gone home. Early Saturday, December 17, 2011, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Wallace Arthur Lloyd, quietly returned to the Father who gave him life and sent him here 82 years ago. With his passing, Wally will also be reunited with his earthly father after a 72-year separation. Wally is survived by his wife, Galorma Jean ("Jerri") Stephenson Lloyd; four sons: Steve (Margret), Larry (Linda), Terry (Kathy), Scott (Athena); eight grandchildren (Travis (Jen), Madison, Cortney (Matt), Blair, Abigail, Bennett, Tanner, and Tate); two great grandchildren (Brianna and Hailey); and his sisters, Anna Kroescher Larsen and Carol Kroescher Pangos. He was preceded in his passing by his parents and other siblings. Wally Lloyd served his family, he served his country, he served others around him, and he served the Lord. He will be remembered by many as the "first sergeant," a position he held for many years. He faithfully carried out his assignments in the military, as a husband, as a father, an umpire, in Church callings too numerous to list, in coaching sports, in Scouting, and in many other official and unofficial duties. He made friends easily and kept them. His family wondered if there was any place in the world he couldn't find an old friend or make a new one. His light and life will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. As a child of the Great Depression, Wally came from humble circumstances and personal challenges but rose above them, leaving an example for the rest of us. His sister Ann characterized him as "the best of the best." Paul wrote words that we can now attribute to Wally Lloyd: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." God be with you, Wally Lloyda
