1938-2023
 
Walter O’Neal, 85, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2023, due to brain cancer. He was born January 26, 1938, the second of nine children to James O’Neal and Catherine (Flake) O’Neal.
Left behind to celebrate the life of Walter O’Neal is his wife Vera O’Neal; his five children: Sandra O’Neal, Walter O’Neal Jr, Stephanie O’Neal, Tiffanie Sherod, Ceola Clarke (Darrell); sister Bernice Crosby; brother David O’Neal; and three grandchildren: Ebonee Miller, Siarra Sherod, and Ethan Sherod.
Walter was preceded in death by his father and mother James & Catherine O’Neal; Siblings: James O’Neal, Henry O’Neal, Willard O’Neal, Richard O’Neal, Gary O’Neal, and Geneva O’Neal.
Walter honorably served his country in the US Marine Corps with travels that took him from Camp Pendleton, through the Panama Canal, and a tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan.  He was a city delivery driver for Milne Truck Lines, ABF Freight, and retired from Yellow Trucking in 1996. During his retirement as a grandfather, he enjoyed visits from grandkids, building and maintaining things in his yard.
Funeral service and reception will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Redwood Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT  84123.  There will be two viewings at Redwood Memorial on Friday, July 7th from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm and Saturday, July 8th 9:30 am-10:00 am.
