William (Bill) Benjamin Gill was born May 11, 1959 in Anniston Alabama at Anniston Memorial Hospital. His mother considered him to a be a “miracle baby”, as she had lost a baby less than a year prior from spina bifida. He moved to Utah when he was 3 years old with his parents Carolyn and Howard. Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2023 at this home in Houston, Texas.
Bill graduated from Ogden High school in 1977. He worked for Continental Airlines (now United) for over 30 years and rose from Flight Attendant to International Flight Service Manager. He lived in Denver, Colorado for many years. He created many lasting friendships there, specifically with Patrick Weberg whom Bill considered to be his “brother”. Bill later moved to Houston, Texas. He flew to many overseas destinations, which he truly enjoyed. He was loved by all his staff and created many lasting friendships with his crew members.
Bill had a strong love for music. He was a skilled guitar, harmonica, and piano player. He was known for traveling with a guitar or harmonica and joining a live band on stage to accompany them in a live performance or would break out in song for anyone who would listen.
Bill was loved for his great jovial personality, love for his co-workers, and many friends. He never met a stranger; everyone was his friend. Bill had much love for his granddaughter, Vivian, and was known for sharing her photos with his crew members and customers.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Benji, sister Mariann, father Carlton Pope, aunt Chris, uncle Ken, uncle Wayne, grandmothers and grandfathers. He is survived by his parents Howard and Carolyn Gill, son Brandon (Katie) Gill, granddaughter Vivian, step-mother Ruth Pope, aunt Martha (Steve) Eldridge, and Patrick Weberg.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Mortuary Redwood in West Jordan, Utah on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2 PM with reception to follow.Service Information
