William “Bill” Martin Gould

January 14, 1939 — April 8, 2023

William Martin Gould (Bill)
We are sad to announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on April 8, 2023 in Clinton, Utah. He was 84.
Bill was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 14, 1939 to Martin W. and Mabel Gould. He married his sweetheart Pat on June 19, 1971 in the Los Angeles Temple. He has a BA in Music and a Masters of Music Education from Chapman College in Orange, California. He taught Junior High and High School choirs in California for many years. He then spent several years as the choir director at East High School. He took his students on several national and international tours and made productions and recordings of the music they created. He was beloved by his students. Many of his former students called him their “beloved Mr. Gould.” He had a big impact on the lives of many of his students. He taught them not only to love music but to believe in themselves as well. He left the field of education for a while and began working in business for about 12 years. However, he discovered that he missed teaching so returned to education in 1990 by receiving a special education certificate to teach the severely intellectually handicapped in Jr High and High School which he did until his retirement.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. After retirement, he worked as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful, Utah Temple until his health failed him.
Bill was very eclectic in his interests and hobbies. He especially loved tennis and racquetball, target shooting, archery, hunting, photography, and many more. He was well-known for his sense of humor and had a talent for making friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Pat Gould, his 3 children Tom (Erin) Gould, Steve (Joni) Gould, Kristine (Josh) Dukes, 16 grandchildren and many close family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
