William Lee Chaston returned home to his Heavenly Father and the love of his life, Lillie Lou, on August 14th, 2026, after a battle with heart disease.
Will was born February 2nd, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Joseph and Linda Chaston. He graduated from Highland High School in Sugarhouse, Utah. He served an LDS mission to Southwest British Mission from April 1966 to April 1968.
On February 2nd, 1969, he went out on his first date. Lou, when she got home, told her roommates: "That is the guy I'm going to marry." On February 26th, 1969, Will said, "If I had a ring, I would ask you to marry me," to which Lou replied, "Don't let that stop you." On June 12th, 1969, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Will joined the United States Air Force in July of 1969 and attended basic training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. Will attended aircraft maintenance and jet mechanical school at Sheppard Air Force base outside of Wichita Falls, Texas. Will served six and a half months in Vietnam. Will's final duty station was Holloman Air Force base in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Will earned the Airforce Achievement medal, National Defense medal, Airforce Good Conduct medal, Vietnam Service medal, and the Airforce Outstanding Unit Award.
Will served many callings in the West Bountiful 2nd Ward, where Will and Lou lived for 42 years and raised their family. His favorite calling was in the Boy Scouts, where he served off and on for over 20 years. His 2nd favorite was when he served in the Bishopric as the second councilor for 6 years. He also served with his wife in the Bountiful Temple as an ordinance worker. Outside of his church callings, he loved to go camping and fly fishing with his family; he did Dutch oven competitions and loved to cook for people. If he was cooking, there was never an empty plate. He loved to garden with Lou; they always had a beautiful yard, and there was always a game to play when family and friends were over.
Will was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Lillie Lou (Croney) Chaston, his parents Joseph and Linda (Pearson) Chaston; his older sister Joyce Chaston; grandson Michael Chaston, and his great-granddaughter Pearl Hope Muir.
He is survived by his daughter Kymberley (Michael) Bushey of Woods Cross, Utah; son Robert (Gelina) Chaston of West Sacramento, California; son Travis (Starlyn) Chaston of Sugarhouse, Utah; sister Blanch Harrison; granddaughter Shylo Bushey (Mark Wise); granddaughter Sara Bushey (Caleb Minton); grandson Kelson Bushey (McKenna Wilson); grandson Trevor Chaston; granddaughter Adele Chaston and granddaughter Norah Chaston.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 21st at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary at 1640 East Lakeview Dr, in Bountiful from 6 pm to 8 pm.
