William Kay Harmon

With deep love and gratitude, we announce that William Kay Harmon (Bill) returned home to his Father in Heaven and his beloved sweetheart on February 21, 2026. Born in Price, Utah, on May 19, 1939, to Myron Melvin Harmon and Lena Janet Nielsen, Bill lived a life full of faith, service, and devotion to family.

Bill’s childhood was marked by simple joys - swimming, bike riding, scouting, and participating in the 4-H club. In 1952, his family moved to Salt Lake City, where he attended West High School. It was there, in seminary, that he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Bushnell (Beth). After two years of courtship, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 25, 1960.

In June 1961, Bill and Beth purchased their home in Sandy, Utah, where they would raise their large and loving family. They welcomed ten children: one precious baby who returned to heaven shortly after birth, and nine children who were raised in the Sandy home filled with love, laughter, hard work, and testimony. Bill cherished time with his family and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and taking family trips that created memories still treasured today.

A lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served faithfully in many callings, including Scoutmaster, Aaronic Priesthood Advisor, Bishopric Counselor, and High Councilor. Together with his sweetheart, he served two cherished missions. Their first was in Hawaii, where Bill was set apart as a temple sealer on December 11, 2004, by Elder M. Russell Ballard, under the direction of President Gordon B. Hinckley. Their second mission was in the Palmyra Temple, where they continued their shared devotion to temple service.

After returning home, Bill continued serving as a Sealer and Temple Worker in the Draper Utah Temple from March 2009 to June 2024, and later in the Jordan River Temple from June 2024 to September 2025. His steady faith, gentle leadership, and love for the temple blessed countless lives.

Bill was preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart, Beth, his sons, Dwaine and Gary, and his son-in-law, Aaron. He is survived by his eight children and their spouses: Claudia, Terry and Lori, Clark and Jaynie Sue, Ray and Shannon, Mary and Michael, Judy and Justin, Colleen and Dave, Elaine, and Mark. He is also blessed with a great posterity of 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and counting.

Bill’s legacy is one of devotion to his faith, his family, and his eternal companion. His life was a testament to quiet service, unwavering testimony, and the profound influence of a righteous husband, father, and patriarch. Those who knew him will forever remember his gentle humor, his kindness, and the steady strength with which he lived and loved.

He is finally home, hand in hand with his Beth again.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel on 9824 South Flint Drive, Sandy, Utah 84094. There will be an evening viewing held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM; as well as a daytime viewing Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM. Memorial services will immediately follow from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

Interment will take place Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Burial will take place within the West Garden.
