William S. Rice passed away on October 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 94. He was born on November 15, 1931, in Gooding, Idaho, to William Seymour and Emma Rice.
He married the love of his life, Bonnie Patricia Bennett, on June 15, 1955, and together they built a life centered on family, adventure, and lasting memories.
He proudly served four years in the United States Navy, including service during the Korean War aboard the destroyer USS Duncan. He went on to serve 26 years with the Utah Air National Guard, retiring in April 1986. Following his military retirement, he continued his working career with TV Specialists, where he worked for another 10 years. His years of service reflected a strong commitment to duty and hard work.
He had a love for travel, hunting, fishing, and, above all, his family. Travel and family were by far his favorite things, and more often than not, the two went hand in hand. He was always looking ahead, dreaming up and planning his next adventure. Whether exploring somewhere new or spending time with those he loved, he embraced life with a spirit of adventure and a deep appreciation for the people who made it meaningful. Maui held a special place in his heart and was truly his home away from home.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Patricia Rice, his sons, Robert Rice and Barry Rice, parents Seymour and Emma Rice, sister Betty Snodgrass and brother Clifford Elvin Rice.
He is survived by his children, William P Rice, Margarette Rice Reyes, George Rice, and Kenneth Rice (Angie); his grandsons, Richard Hollaway (Michelle) and Ty Rice; and his great-grandchildren, Kevin Hollaway, Kaitlyn Canham (Brandon), Brooklyn Hollaway, Kameron Hollaway, Caeli Hollaway and Kayden Hollaway; With a great-great-grandchild on the way. He is further survived by his brothers Allan Rice and Fred Everett Rice.
His memory will live on through the family he cherished, the adventures he enjoyed, and the many memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
