Died on June 23rd 2026, in Murray, Salt Lake, Utah. Sue was born on March 5th 1940, in Gijang, Gijang-gun, South Korea to Kyung Sum Park and Pil Hyon Kim.
Sue married Matthew A. Cross on February 8th, 2003 and was sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15th, 2019.
Sue immigrated to America in 1964. She has always had a quick mind and taught herself English while watching people’s mouths and expressions, learning pronunciation by writing the words in Korean characters on her hand and repeating them over and over. She started working first at the Metropolitan Laundry, finding the job on her own before she had learned much more than the English words, “hello”, “work”, “okay”, and “Thank you”. She had become proficient enough in English and on American History in time, on her own, to take the American Citizenship test. The woman who administered the test was known as the toughest (per the local newspaper) Citizenship tester. She was surprised by, and proud of Sue, who passed brilliantly and became an American citizen on August 15th 1968 with no schooling or help.
Sue has worked very hard all her life and soon moved on to work with Intermountain Healthcare at LDS Hospital, then shortly transferred to Cottonwoord Hospital – closer to home - where she was loved by not only the staff, but the patients she met. She worked in the children’s unit, operating rooms, labor and delivery, and then in Medical Surgical and ICU units. She was loved everywhere she went and the various departments fought to have her working with them.
Sue’s Christ like love has caused many people to love and respect her, often within minutes of meeting her.
Sue is an excellent cook and cooked constantly for family, co-workers, and neighbors. Sharing the food she loves and feeding others is one of her ‘love languages’. She also loves to garden and has thrived while creating natures beauty which she is grateful friends and neighbors can enjoy when they are near.
Sue loves her Savior and expresses her gratitude for him in all he has blessed her and her family with. She knows that ‘luck’ isn’t a thing that happens, but rather that we are blessed with miracles and tender mercies from a loving Father in Heaven that many give credit to the concept of luck, when one really needs to acknowledge
and thank Him, for even the smallest of things he helps and blesses us with throughout each day.
Sue battled P.A.L.L. (a form of Leukemia), for almost 12 years after her diagnosis, and being told she only had 2 months to live, by living a life full of love, constantly caring for others and giving gratitude to her Father in Heaven and Savior.
Sue is survived by her husband Matthew A. Cross, bonus children Thomas, William and Katie Cross, granddaughter Camille Martin, grandson’s D.J. and Cory Cromeenes.
She is preceded in death by her son Dave Cromeenes.
