Zora Irene (Block) Holbrook

Mar 22, 1925 — Jan 1, 2022

ZORA IRENE BLOCK HOLBROOK was born March 22, 1925, in Mitchell, Nebraska to Harold & Grace Block.  Zora was the oldest daughter of ten children.  Her family lived with her maternal grandmother, Cora Elizabeth Pringle, who Zora admired & spoke of often, & in many ways modeled her life after.

Shortly after high school, Zora left home for Denver, Colorado where she attended a secretarial school.  Upon completion of her studies, she accepted a civil service job at Hill Airforce Base located just south of Ogden, Utah.  There she met Don Holbrook who worked at the Airforce Base in the winter season when there was less work on the family farm.  They were wed on August 9, 1946.

Don & Zora moved to Mission, Texas in January 1955 with their young sons Gregg & Dennis to fulfill Don's dream of farming & living in warmer weather.  Zora was a member of the Methodist Church.

Zora was predeceased by her husband Don Holbrook, sisters Gertrude Fegler & Mary Jane Lester, & brothers Fred, Walter & Don Block.  She is survived by her two sons & daughters-in-law, Gregg & Virgie, & Dennis & Lynda, & grandchildren Summer (Wes Wadle) Holbrook, Nicholas Holbrook, Russon (Emily) Holbrook, Loryn Holbrook Clark, Denae (Rob) Jenkins, Kaylee (Garrett) Edwards, & great grandchildren, Paloma, Cooper, Van, Paris, Ethan, Elle, Ashlyn, Bradley, Aiden, Adelyn, Brinley, Kelsy, Elyse, Kaydence, Anastyn, Garrison, & Landon.   She is also survived by brothers Richard, Ron, & Maurice Block, & sister Betty Atkinson, & numerous nieces & nephews who fondly called her "Aunt Zo".

Funeral celebration of life will be held at 11:30am on Friday January 21, 2022 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family may visit from 10:30am to 11:30am prior to the funeral.
