Tasha Michelle Blumenthal

On August 3rd, 2026, one day short of her 58th birthday, our beloved Daughter and Mother, Tasha Michelle Blumenthal passed away. She will be sorrowfully missed by all of us. She was always offering her time to help others. 

Tasha went to Brighton High School where she graduated in 1986. She went on to Dixie State College where she became a member of the cheering squad. The friends she met while there, have been a part of her life ever since: Kristine, Suzie, Stephanie, Jeanette, and Toni. Upon graduating from Dixie College with an associate degree in 1988, she attended Utah State University for two quarters and the University of Utah for one. She left school to get married in March of 1989 to Brad Blumenthal. 

The following year she started work for Eastern Airlines. When Eastern was bought by Delta Airlines, she went to Atlanta, Georgia for several months for a training as a flight attendant. It was a very tearful departure at the airport. She loved her job at Delta, which afforded her the opportunity to travel all over the United States and Europe. Countries like France, Italy, Holland, Sweden, England, Greece, The Netherlands, and Belgium. Her job allowed her parents to travel with her on several occasions. 

In 2005, she took leave from her job to have a child they named Soren. She became consumed with raising him to adulthood. I referred to her as a helicopter mom, which she didn't appreciate. Soren was afforded the opportunity to be involved in soccer, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. 

Tasha loved boating in Jackson Hole Lake, Flaming Gorge, Bear Lake, and Lake Powell. She would go camping with her mother, Shirley, in their tent trailer. She enjoyed going to Utah State National Parks: Arches, where she spent several times hiking to Delicate Arch, Canyonlands to drive over Elephant Hill, Zion to hike to the top of Angel's Landing, and Capital Reef to hike in the Fremont River. 

She enjoyed going on motorcycle rides with Brad. This always made me nervous. On these occasions we had the opportunity as grandparents to be with Soren. We often took Soren on the hill east of Sandy to watch the 4th of July fireworks and the Sandy balloon festival. He was a difficult child to take an afternoon nap. We would swing him in a hammock swing under the sycamore tree. The second you stopped swinging him he would wake up. It was like he felt he was going to miss out on something. 

Soren wanted everyone to know how much Tasha was loved by others and that she was his best friend. That she was a beautiful person and had a soul unlike anyone he met. She was there to take care of her Grandma Mae and Grandma Glena in their final hours of life. 

In 2021, Tasha was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was very courageous and mentally strong in handling the situation, going through the treatment and receiving a cancer-free outcome. 

Tasha and Soren enjoyed going with me to the Mountain Man Rendezvous at Fort Bridger State Park in Bridger, Wyoming. Soren was always wet from wading in the creek to catch pollywogs to sell to other kids. Tasha was always concerned that he would get in trouble with their parents. I enjoyed going skiing and golfing with her. She looked sharp in her skis and ski outfit. We are going to miss her every day for the rest of our lives. We have such fond memories of being with her. 

Tasha loved feeding the finches, hummingbirds, and squirrels in her backyard. 

I have probably a thousand cards that she gave me with notes expressing her love and heartfelt thanks to me. I am going to miss receiving them. 

Tasha is survived by her son, Soren Blumenthal, her mother, Shirley, her father, Carlos, and her ex-husband, Brad Blumenthal. Services will be held Sunday August 16th at 10:00 AM at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery located at 3115 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
