Cesar Martinez Sr.

Cesar Martinez Sr. concluded his courageous journey with cancer on April 1, 2026. Throughout his battle he exemplified positivity, humor, and fortitude that was contagious to anyone that knew him.

The son of Bonifacio and Concepcion Martinez; Cesar was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico on February 25, 1941. He met his wife Maria del Refugio Quintero in El Alamo, Coahuila. They recently celebrated 58 years of love. Together they created a beautiful family of 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Cesar immigrated to the United States to pursue the "American Dream.” He worked in the fields and then transitioned to Mountain Bell telephone company where he retired after 33 years of labor.

A man of deep faith, integrity and gentle spirit. Cesar was known for his tender heart. He was an active member in his church, faithfully serving in many roles throughout the years.

He treasured time spent with his family and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Cesar loved to work on his garden, he was very proud of his rose bushes. Those passing by admired his gorgeous roses. Weekends in Wendover were his favorite pastime.

Our loving dad, grandpa Cesar Martinez Sr. is survived by his wife Maria, his children: Minerva, Cesar Jr., Norma (Felipe), Carlos (Estrella), Annabel (Wayne), 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. His brothers: Robert, Bonifacio, and Javier. His sisters: Concepcion, and Rosario. He is proceeded in death by his parents, and sister Ramona.

The viewing will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026 5pm-8pm (rosary beginning at 6pm) at Memorial Estates, 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Mass will commence at 1 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 257 N 700 W in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment services will follow at Memorial Estates cemetery.
